Dover Middle School Title I
Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Title I?
Title I is a nationwide federally funded intervention program. At Dover Middle School, Title I provides small group, targeted interventions in reading as well as support in math classes.
Who participates in Title I?
Title I participation is determined based on a number of factors. The Title I Coordinator reviews several data points and receives teacher input regarding classroom performance. Once determinations are made regarding eligibility for Title I, permission slips are sent home.
Who teaches Title I groups?
Title I groups at Dover Middle School are taught by highly qualified, certified teachers.
What types of programs are used in Title I?
All programs used for intervention groups are research-based. Programs are implemented with fidelity and progress is monitored on a regular basis. Students are matched with the intervention program that best meets their needs.
When do Title I groups meet?
Title I Groups meet during ENCORE on days 1-5. Groups do not meet during Competency Workshop weeks.
How long will my child be in a Title I group?
Students in DMS reading interventions are evaluated for growth at the end of each DMS RtI cycle (approximately every 6 weeks). At this time, determinations are made regarding the need for continued intervention. Some students only need a quarter to get back on track while other students require a longer amount of time.
Can my child still participate in band and chorus?
Students who are in both band/chorus as well as a Title I group will attend their Title I group on days 1-4 and band/chorus on day 5.
How will I know what my child is doing in his/her Title I group?
Parent reports are generated and sent home monthly via email or paper copy. In addition, continued communication with your child’s Title I teacher is strongly encouraged.
I still have questions, who do I contact?
The DMS Title I Coordinator, Larissa Ragazzo, is available to answer any questions you may have. She can be reached at 516-7224 or via email at [email protected]
